With January in full swing, there are some great new movies coming out this week on Netflix, Hulu, and other major streaming services

However, there is one streaming service you won't see on this list That's because "The Marvels" will not be available on Disney's subscription streaming service, but on a pay-per-view video-on-demand streaming service In a somewhat eyebrow-raising move, Disney had quietly made the last two Marvel movies available on PVOD streaming before Disney Plus CEO Bob Iger appears to have made some changes behind the scenes regarding the streaming strategy

In addition to the latest Marvel film, George Clooney's latest directorial effort, "The Boys in the Boat," will also be available And "Damn Money," starring Paul Dano, is one of the few movies to hit Netflix this week

"The Marvels" may not be the next great superhero movie, but it is a fun film that many will enjoy And at 105 minutes, it is refreshingly short compared to the two-and-a-half to three-hour blockbusters that tend to dominate Hollywood You would be forgiven for waiting for it to be distributed by Disney Plus, but the film is well worth a look

"Next Goal Wins" is based on the true story of the world's worst soccer team In the film, Michael Fassbender plays Thomas Rongen, a soccer club manager who becomes the head coach of American Samoa after being fired as the coach of the US Men's National Team U-20 At the time, American Samoa was best known for its 31-0 defeat to Australia, the worst in international soccer history

This Taika Waititi film is another example of divided opinion between critics and audiences While the Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus has been scathing, calling it off the mark, audiences agree that while not groundbreaking, this comedy about a group of misfits led by Fassbender is a fun and heartwarming sports film
