Do you ever squirm when you see abdominal workouts where you lie on the floor and do sit-ups, planks, and crunches over and over again? We hear you Here are six dumbbell exercises designed to target your core
That's right, you don't have to lie on the ground and twist and crunch your torso in every direction to work and tighten your abdominal core All you need is space and adjustable dumbbells, and you're good to go Not only are these movements great for defining your abs, but standing workouts are also more functional than floor-based abdominal exercises, meaning they engage your core and other muscles more effectively
The workouts were designed by fitness instructor Fiona Judd and are structured in a fairly straightforward manner The routine includes six exercises, each lasting one minute, with the goal of completing a total of three rounds You are free to include rest periods between each exercise

These standing exercises work the core muscles extensively, as stability and balance must be maintained throughout each movement This not only strengthens the core muscles, but also promotes better posture over time
Exercises performed in a standing position often require more energy than those performed in a seated or lying position When standing, the body must use additional muscles to maintain balance and stability, thus burning more calories
As mentioned before, standing exercises are very functional because they replicate real movements Therefore, they are effective in improving strength and coordination in everyday activities such as lifting objects or performing household chores
Finally, standing dumbbell exercises allow for progressive overload training Progressive overload training is training in which the weight lifted and the number of repetitions are gradually increased over time, which promotes strength growth and muscle development and helps with continued progress
Finally, it is important to mention that developing visible abdominal muscles, commonly referred to as "abs," is a process that requires dedication, consistency, and attention to many different elements as well as movement Standing dumbbell exercises can certainly help strengthen core muscles, but achieving visible abdominal muscles does not happen overnight
Along with targeted exercises, factors such as maintaining a balanced diet to reduce body fat percentage play a major role In addition, incorporating full-body strength training and aerobic exercise into an overall fitness routine can help burn calories and promote muscle growth throughout the body, including core areas
