Alien Fireteam, a new co-op shooter set in the iconic sci-fi world of the Alien movies, will be released in summer 2021
The news comes from IGN, which reports that the game has been in development at Cold Iron Studios since at least 2018 and will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC The exact release date is unknown at this time
Inspired by the second film in the franchise, Craig Zinkewicz, co-founder of Cold Iron Studios, said, "One of the goals of Aliens is to complete Fireteam: one of the goals of Fireteam is to complete the 1986 classic " Aliens to achieve the "Cameron-esque" fantasy we saw on screen in Aliens"
The game seems to be in the vein of online co-op shooters like Left 4 Dead, with teams of three players completing various missions while trying to survive against 11 different Xenomorphs Along the way, they will also fight enemies such as facehuggers and synthetics
Players can choose one of five Soldier classes: Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Rickon In addition, there will be a customization option that allows players to dress their Colonial Marines in a variety of outfits
Other details given by IGN include the game's challenge card system, which is essentially a modifier that can be applied to tweak the game, as well as higher difficulty levels where enemies are more aggressive and resources are more limited
So far, only a teaser trailer has been released, but fans will not have to wait long to see Alien: Fireteam in action, as a longer gameplay video is promised for this coming Thursday (March 4)
