Gearbox wrapped up day one at E3 2021 We got to see more information about the upcoming "Borderlands" movie, a sneak peek of "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands," a little information about "Homeworld 3," the new "Tribes of Midgard," and news of updates and expansions for "Godfall" updates and expansion news
All of this was packed into a mere 30 minutes, with Gearbox-esque humor I'll reserve judgment on that point, but the game-related news was interesting, if nothing else And the behind-the-scenes look at the "Borderlands" movie currently in production was intriguing, if not very satisfying
Here is a breakdown of everything Gearbox showed off
Gearbox's showcase began with Randy Pitchford giving a behind-the-scenes tour of the filming of the upcoming movie "Borderlands" He introduced the director and the actor Atlas, one of the characters in the film
The "Borderlands" movie also concluded the E3 showcase with Randy introducing Kevin Hart as Roland Again, this unveiling did not include much content, and we do not know more about the movie than before, but there was additional content about the movie for those looking forward to it
Gearbox also talked about "Homeworld 3," which will be sequeled over the years homeworld was originally released in 1999 and was the first real-time strategy game with a 3D axis it was a major event for RTS in the late 90s It was a major event for RTS in the late 90s
"Homeworld 2" was released in 2002, and a remastered version was released in 2015 Homeworld 3 has been a long time coming and should be a great game for RTS fans It is currently in production, so a release date is not yet known
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a fantasy loot shooter, inspired by the popular DLC Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep from Borderlands 2 It features lots of loot, wyverns, and goblins, but a whole new plot with new characters
Gearbox has stated that there will be homages to the Borderlands franchise, but even those who have never played Gearbox's flagship series will find much to like in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands The game will be released in early 2022
Tribes of Midgard is an upcoming 10-player co-op ARPG to be published by Gearbox Based on Norse mythology, players play as Viking warriors tasked with protecting the seed of Yggdrasil, the world tree You must gather resources, build a village, and survive the nightly raids of demons from the underworld
Each night you survive, you can venture out into the world to find resources and treasure But beware that often giants will attack you
As you may have guessed, losing a tree is game over Horde of Midgard can be played solo, but it will be more fun with a friend, and will be released on July 27 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC
Godfall is not a new game and will be released at the end of 2020 However, not only will it be released on PlayStation 4 (which will later be upgraded to PlayStation 5 and allow cross-gen play), but the developers have mentioned two updates
The upcoming expansion, titled Fire and Darkness, will take you into the realm of fire and save it New enemies and loot will be introduced, as well as new challenges
The free update Lightbringer introduces matchmaking, new endgame challenges, new cursed loot, and difficult tasks to unlock the full potential of the gear The fashion game will feature new unlockable Valor Plate skins
The Fire and Darkness expansion will be available on August 10
