Samsung Galaxy Note 20FE Rumored release date, price, features and more

Samsung Galaxy Note 20FE Rumored release date, price, features and more

It seems unlikely that Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 FE will be available this year This is because Samsung has said that it is focusing on a foldable phone as its next do-everything phone, not a Galaxy Note phone And with the announcement of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3, it looks like it's game over for the main Galaxy Note model, let alone the "Fan Edition" model

However, there are several rumors floating around about the Galaxy Note 20 FE After all, a more affordable Galaxy Note 20 would certainly be attractive

So, here are some of the rumors surrounding Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 FE and the features it will have if it becomes a reality

As mentioned above, it seems unlikely that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE will appear Samsung has stated that it is concentrating on folding phones this year and no new Note phones In fact, the Note line may be gone for good, Samsung just hasn't made that clear [As for pricing, the Galaxy S20 FE costs $699, $300 less than the Galaxy S20's debut price This $999 price is also the price at which Samsung will sell the Galaxy Note 20, so the Note 20 FE could theoretically be $699 to $799

Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 FE is expected to look much like the Galaxy Note 20, which already had a plastic back, as opposed to the more elegant material used in the Note 20 Ultra the plastic of the S20 FE and the new Galaxy S21 is actually feel good to the touch and have a more luxurious feel than the "glastic" name would suggest

However, the Note 20 FE could feature a larger display than the Note 20's 67-inch screen; choosing a 68-inch panel could place it between the regular Note 20 and the Ultra version After all, Note phones are designed as large-screen devices, and the S20 FE was larger than the standard Galaxy S20

It is also possible that Samsung will offer a series of colors, as it did with the Galaxy S20 FE That would be in contrast to sticking to the semi-metallic copper color scheme of the full-fat Note 20 handset

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE's display, Samsung is expected to reference the Galaxy S20 FE That is, a 1080p panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz

Ideally, we would like a dynamic refresh rate, where the display adapts to the content being displayed and can scale back below 60 Hz when a higher refresh rate is not needed But that would require the LTPO displays found on the S21 series and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra This is where our prediction gets a little muddled

On the Note 20 Ultra, the LTPO panel was a premium feature However, now that it is part of the $799 Galaxy S21, Samsung seems to be able to develop adaptive refresh rate displays on a large scale Thus, at least in theory, the Note 20 FE display could be equipped with Adaptive Refresh Rate without raising the price

One of the Note 20 FE leaks seems to mention the Galaxy Note 20 FE's 65-inch display This is the same screen size as the Galaxy S20 FE

The Note 20 FE display is expected to have flat edges like the S20 FE Also, since Samsung is familiar with screens on all devices, the display will no doubt be bright and colorful

The biggest compromise the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE may make may involve the processor that drives the phone Samsung will likely choose the Snapdragon 888, given that the Galaxy S21 series uses this chipset

However, there are other options If Samsung wants to use the same chipset as seen in other Note 20 models, last year's Snapdragon 865 could be used There is also the Snapdragon 870, a 5G chip that is a more powerful version of last year's Snapdragon 865 Plus

Like the S20 FE, the Note 20 FE will probably have less RAM than its more expensive predecessors It will also likely have one type of storage, most likely 128 GB to keep costs down

As for cameras, the Note 20 FE could go one of several ways It could simply use the S20 FE's triple camera array, consisting of a main 12MP, ultra-wide 12MP, telephoto 8MP, and 3x zoom setup

Alternatively, the Note 20's camera setup consisting of a 108MP wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera could be used The Galaxy S21's rear camera also includes a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera with 3x hybrid zoom

These various cameras can be combined, for example, to have a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera In doing so, the Note 20 FE could differentiate itself from the S20 FE, but not steal the thunder of the other two premium Galaxy phones

Whatever camera the Note 20 FE will have, it is expected to be a phablet with flagship-level camera performance, utilizing the improved camera software and image processing introduced in the Galaxy S21 series

As for other features, we can expect the S Pen to remain a core part of the Galaxy Note 20 FE even after Samsung begins expanding stylus support to other devices such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, as the S Pen remains an integral part of the Note experience, Note 20 FE version is expected to support all features found on the standard Note 20 stylus

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE would give people access to an S Pen compatible phone without having to pay a fortune for high-end features they may not need or want

There is an argument that introducing the Galaxy Note 20 FE could dilute the Galaxy Note lineup and shift it away from being Samsung's premium smartphone Then again, the introduction of the Plus and Ultra variants brought some additional features and different sized screens to make the standard Galaxy Note seem more basic

However, we don't even know if the Galaxy Note 20 FE is really in development Samsung has said that it is building up the FE series, and the Note 20 would be a good candidate for such a phone However, other than a few leaks and rumors, there are no concrete indications of a Galaxy Note 20 FE
