The Google Pixel 6 has been leaked in large numbers at this point, leaving little information to reveal However, the latest Pixel 6 leaks reveal a few things we wish the iPhone 13 had
As reported by Evan Blass (@evleaks) on Twitter, the Pixel 6 will offer both face unlock and fingerprint unlock The "Security options" page in one of the leaked renders shows exactly that While we cannot confirm whether this feature will be included on both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, we believe it "will"
We have seen rumors before that the Pixel 6 will offer an in-display fingerprint sensor, which would be very welcome at a time when millions of people are being asked to wear masks in public iPhone 13 reviews have shown that while wearing a mask, Face ID cannot be used to unlock the device Therefore, they have to rely on a PIN code, which can be circumvented by wearing an Apple Watch
Apple is reportedly working on a way to recognize faces even when wearing a mask, but it is not known if this upgrade will be included in the iPhone 13 or if it will have to wait until next year's iPhone 14
We have also heard mixed rumors about the prospect of Apple offering in-display Touch ID on the iPhone 14 The company appears to be focusing all of its efforts on Face ID for the time being
Now, given the relatively small size of the Google Pixel 6's punch hole, it does not appear to have the sensors required for advanced 3D face recognition like the iPhone 13's TrueDepth system; the Pixel 4 has a dedicated Soli chip and Motion Sense technology, which made the device larger in forehead, but Google abandoned that in the Pixel 5 in the name of slimming down the bezel
So at this stage, it is really hard to judge how good the Pixel 6's face unlock technology will be Personally, however, I would prefer to have the option to easily unlock with my finger when wearing a mask It would have been nice if Apple had added a Touch ID sensor to the iPhone 13's power button, but that never happened
The rest of the Pixel 6 leak by Evan Blass reveals a few other things that may be better than the iPhone 13 and look quite promising These include a faster wireless charging dock capable of up to 23W and a trio of sharper rear cameras on the Pixel 6 Pro, including a 50MP wide lens, 48MP telephoto, and 12MP ultra-wide Apple's three cameras are 12MP, but we all know that the quality of the cameras is more than megapixel
Google is also eating into Apple's widget action with the Live Space widget, which allows you to view airline tickets right on your phone's lock screen when you need it This reminds me of how Apple Wallet works, but will have to wait for it to be used in practice
The Pixel 6 event is set for October 19, and it won't be long until all the details of Google's new flagship Android phone are official Until then, check out our Pixel 6 hub for the latest leaks and rumors
