The Google Pixel6Pro screen flaw will be fixed, but it has not been fixed yet

The Google Pixel 6 has already suffered from some unusual screen issues less than a week after it went on general sale Fortunately, Google has now stepped in with some advice and a promise of a fix for one of them

The Pixel Phone Help support page (via 9to5Google) acknowledges that Google Pixel 6 Pro users may be experiencing some "display afterglow" issues The post also details that a fix for this issue will be released next month, which will be great news for early users of Google's latest flagship phone

As we previously reported, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users are finding a variety of issues with their phones' screens These include screen flickering, a green tint, and in one notable case, a second punch hole in the display Google's support page specifically addresses the flicker issue, but not the tint issue The extra punch holes appear to be an unfortunate and isolated lapse in manufacturing quality, unless further instances are discovered

Google writes that screen flickering occurs when a user presses the power button while the phone is turned off, but does not press it hard enough to actually turn the phone on The post makes it clear that this is not a hardware problem with the phone, which is at least somewhat reassuring to customers

As an interim measure, the posting suggests that users hold the button down when they want to turn it on, rather than "cycling" it by pressing and releasing it several times However, users will have to wait until the December software update

Google has historically been less fortunate when it comes to the reliability of Pixel phones Fortunately, disastrous things like display burn-in on the Pixel 2 XL and color issues on the Pixel 6 have not happened, at least not yet

When we reviewed the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, we liked both very much and did not notice any of the above issues during our testing However, the Pixel 6 Pro issue must be quite widespread if Google has released such a response, and we hope that the December update will fix these screen irregularities
