Earlier this year we were promised a deluge of foldables through the end of 2022, including the Pixel Fold Google's foldable never materialized, but the Oppo Find N is set for a big unveiling this week
Stealing its thunder somewhat is the usually very reliable leaker Evan Blass, who has released many shots of the device, but the quality of the images makes it likely to be official marketing material
Like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Oppo Find N has two forms: a phone with normal dimensions (albeit thicker) and a larger foldable tablet screen that opens up to reveal a larger foldable tablet screen As a side note, here is our take on how the Oppo Find N vs Galaxy Z Fold 3 battle might turn out
Here we see a few more details than the short 15-second trailer, including three camera lenses on the back of the device (with text that reads "50MP") and what appears to be a hole-punch camera on both the front screen and the larger unfolded screen
The images show the device in five colors: black, white, gray, light green, and lavender The device has a USB-C port on the button, and the hinge has the words "Designed for Find"
Folding device launches are always nerve-wracking, as Samsung discovered with the original Galaxy Fold, which had to be quickly recalled by reviewers due to reliability issues Oppo, however, had the advantage of time, and the Find N appeared 27 months after the original Galaxy Fold
It is not certain whether Oppo's Find N will be released beyond China, and if it is, it may not make much of a splash in the US because the brand is not big there However, the fact that Oppo is a sister company to OnePlus and the two companies are now officially working more closely together is another reason to keep an eye on this product
OnePlus hinted that a foldable would be coming earlier this year, but it turned out to be an unscrupulous prank advertising a limited-time discount Given the similarities between past OnePlus and Oppo devices (the OnePlus 8 Pro and Oppo Find X2 Pro are strikingly similar), it may not be surprising that this was a blueprint for future OnePlus devices
Then again, OnePlus may be planning something more unusual for its first foldable
