Galaxy Buds Plus will arrive next month, but no significant features (report)

The Galaxy S20 and the foldable Galaxy Z Flip will get a pair of new wireless earbuds Galaxy Buds at Samsung's trade show on February 11 The Galaxy Buds Plus, however, will appear without the long-awaited feature

Sammobile reports that reliable sources say the Galaxy Buds Plus will not feature active noise cancellation when it debuts next month This feature has long been rumored for Samsung's upcoming wireless earbuds, on the grounds that it would match the feature offered by Apple in the AirPods Pro, which debuted late last year

Instead, Samsung appears to be focusing on two other areas to improve the earphones' performance over last year's Galaxy Buds According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Buds Plus will have four microphones, twice as many as the original earphones, to improve call quality

When we reviewed the Galaxy Buds last year, this was one of our biggest complaints about Samsung's earphones When my colleague Shelley Smith took a call with the Galaxy Buds, the other person's voice sounded muffled, "like they were talking through a muffling filter" Therefore, efforts to improve some of the Buds' solid performance would be welcome

According to sources at Sam Mobile, the new earbuds are likely to last longer When we tested the Galaxy Buds last year, they lived up to Samsung's claims of about six hours of battery life; the Galaxy Buds Plus will reportedly have an 85 mAh battery, up from 58 mAh in the previous model, and the battery will last up to 12 hours on a single charge

These features include

Despite these added features, if reports that active noise cancellation will not be included prove to be true, the Galaxy Buds Plus could be more clearly defined by the features that will not be included Longer battery life and better call quality may be enough to convince people to hold off on trying the Galaxy Buds Plus, but it won't convince many people to upgrade from $130 headphones - or Apple already overlook the fact that they offer wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation
