According to a prominent first-person shooter developer, the PS5 is powerful enough to keep up with PC versions of major games The developer also reveals more about the haptic feedback built into Sony's new DualShock controller
In an interview with VOID Interactive, the developer of "Ready or Not," in the May 2020 issue of PlayStation Official Magazine (via Wccftech), managing director Julio Rodriguez spoke about the PS5, which VOID had previously stated they were interested in porting
"The specs will allow a wider range of games to approach the console market, and we are excited about the possibility that the PS5 will deliver graphics and frame rates on par with the PC version of Ready or Not," Rodriguez said
"Our game design will perform superbly on the PS5 We are currently achieving over 80 frames per second on mid-range devices
We have previously heard about a new haptic feature built into the PS5 controller, which will likely be called the DualShock 5
"This could bring a new dimension to shooting and being shot at or subdued," Rodriguez explained, which sounds pretty exciting The new controller is also rumored to have a microphone, adaptive triggers that change resistance in response to certain game inputs, and wireless charging
He also commented on two major new features coming to the PS5: a custom SSD for the console and a ray-tracing graphics option that will allow for more immersive lighting thanks to AMD RDNA 2 technology in the PS5's GPU
"Loading times have never been an issue for us, but on consoles it traditionally takes quite a long time to load a game Raytracing will be a big boost and major companies like NVIDIA have proven to be very open to partnering with developers to make it happen on the PC"[17
The PS5 is scheduled to be released at the end of 2020, coincidentally about the same time the beta version of Ready or Not will be released Whether the coronavirus outbreak will affect the PS5 ship date is of course not certain, but Sony seems confident that it will meet its own deadline
