Like many other gaming PC manufacturers exhibiting at CES 2021, MSI realized that customers need high-end rigs for both play and productivity As a result, bulky, over-designed laptops were out, and sleek, multifunctional laptops were in
The latest version of the MSI Stealth 15M is one such laptop, which MSI advertises as "the world's thinnest 15-inch gaming laptop" At only 06 inches thick and weighing 37 pounds, it is an incredibly portable device, especially since it also features an 11th generation Intel CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPU
MSI unveiled this year's Stealth 15M at a press conference at this year's all-digital CES Expo The company also detailed a number of other laptops for both gaming and productivity, including new additions to the Raider, Stealth, and Creator lineups The basic gist is that the new laptops will feature Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series cards We'll discuss the Stealth 15M in more detail here, but for a full list of specs, check out MSI's link above
The MSI Stealth 15M has a variety of impressive specs, but MSI's boldest claim is that it is the thinnest 15" gaming laptop you can buy While we can't examine the permutations of every gaming laptop on the market today (and we're betting that MSI probably can't, either), this claim appears to be true: the Stealth 15M measures 141 x 98 x 06 inches, and is the same size as the Razer Blade 15 (07 inches) and slightly thinner than the Alienware m15 (08") and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 (07")
Nevertheless, being 01" thicker is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things That said, MSI has equipped the Stealth 15M with an 11th generation Intel Core i7-11375HCPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, up to 64GB RAM, SSD (variable size), and RGB keyboard The screen unfortunately maxes out at 1080p, but with a refresh rate of 144Hz, you should at least get a very fast frame rate
The system also has a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, a regular USB-C port, two USB-A ports, and an HDMI output This means that if you are not satisfied with the 1080p output at home, you can always connect the Stealth 15M to a more powerful monitor
The Stealth 15M also deserves credit for its elegant, understated physical design, which MSI describes as "slim, sharp, and stylish" It is neither edgy like a gaming laptop nor boring like a productivity laptop, but it seems perfectly suited for both tasks
MSI didn't go into details about pricing or release date, but if it's anything like the previous Stealth 15M model, expect something in the $1,500 range; Tom'sGuide will have a review unit as soon as possible
