If you're enjoying the holiday season the right way - by relaxing on the couch and looking through the films that the best streaming service has delivered to us this year - you'll probably be pleased to see that Netflix's top 10 movie list has changed considerably.

While trending films don't always promise to be hits (although Netflix has offered plenty of must-see originals through 2024), there are some seriously good films in the top 10 now. Impressively, “Carry On” is still clinging to the #1 spot, and there are still a handful of holiday movies, but we've also recently added Greta Gerwig's 2023 phenomenon, the “Barbie” movie, and a new monster movie perfect for those who want to enjoy the big screen now.

If you haven't yet somewhat experienced one half of the “Barbie” double feature, now is the perfect time. Barbie” landed on Netflix in mid-December and has basically stayed in the top 10 ever since. [2023 to critical acclaim (still at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was the #1 film at the box office last year. I think that's probably because “Barbie” was skillfully made, utterly delightful, and worth revisiting.

“Carry On” has proven to be a major Netflix original. Starring Taron Egerton, this Christmas thriller has essentially been the #1 watched film by streamers since it was released on December 13. The film follows TSA agent Ethan (Egerton) as he works a hellish shift at LAX on Christmas Eve.

While trying to prove himself worthy of a promotion on the inspection line, he finds himself being blackmailed into helping a mysterious traveler (the wickedly funny Jason Bateman) smuggle a murder package through airport security.

Kaiju movies may not be everyone's favorite feature, but if you like big, bold, dumb monster movies, look no further than “Godzilla x Kong: New Empire,” which just recently made the Netflix Top 10 list.

In “Godzilla x Kong,” the latest installment in Legendary's monster-verse saga, two giants reluctantly join forces to take on a powerful new simian foe from deep within the hollow earth. The film is one hell of a monster clash, very impressive on screen, and more than enough action to satisfy those seeking cerebral fun.
