The search for Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan, an overwhelming Anglo-Irish aristocrat who conveniently disappeared after the murder of his house-hired nanny, Sandra Rivett, on the night of November 7, 1974, has been an enduring theme in the British media. Episode 1: On November 7, 1974, the body of Sandra Rivett, the children's nanny, was found in a mail bag in the basement of a townhouse in Belgravia. The prime suspect was the disappearance of the children's father, Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl Lucan, a gambler from Eton. Most of Lord Lucan's friends and family claimed that he had taken his own life, but his body has never been found. The search for Lucan lasted decades.

Thirty years after the murders, Hampshire builder Neil Berriman discovers that he is Sandra Rivett's biological son. Along with longtime collaborator Glen Campbell, Neil revisits key moments and emotions in a 17-year journey that began the night of the murder in Belgravie. It was not the missing Lord, but his brother Hugh. In a rare interview, Hugh claims that the missing nobleman has escaped England and made a new life for himself. He says that Lucan headed east to lead a spiritual life in a secluded retreat.

A short time later, Neil receives a letter claiming to have seen a fugitive monk in Perth, Western Australia. The focus of the investigation shifts to the continent. Neil and Glenn travel to Australia and immerse themselves in a network of Buddhist believers.

Episode 3: Neil and Glenn's findings are quickly dismissed by the police and the 2018 scientific report, but it is not so easy to get Neil back on track. The decision Neil made at this point was to pull out of the game rather than abandon it.

After obtaining detailed medical notes from Lucan's plastic surgeon over 50 years ago, Neil begins his own facial analysis. He finds a small scar on a nostril that he feels may be the key to identifying Lucan, and begins to map out how the fugitive Lord may have continued to alter his facial features through plastic surgery.
