Chris Hemsworth's “Extraction 3” gets a major update for Netflix's highly anticipated sequel.

Tyler Lake's third Netflix mission was announced with great fanfare at New York Comic-Con.

In news that is sure to delight fans of the Netflix action film starring Chris Hemsworth, the Russo brothers confirmed that production on the trilogy is well underway.

The news comes from Collider, which interviewed the “Avengers” directing duo at NYCC 2024, and while talking about their Netflix sci-fi film “The Electric State” (the first trailer has just been released), Joe Russo said they already working “hard” on a new film and that “Extraction 3” will be in production soon.

“We're working on that story right now. We're working hard on it. We hope to go into production next year,” Russo said, adding: ”We're definitely shooting next year. It's more fun that way, so we're tight-lipped.

The two did not go into specific details about what will happen in “Extraction 3,” but we did learn a couple of interesting tidbits, including a hint about Idris Elba's mysterious “man in a suit.”

The strange figure appeared toward the end of the film and offered Tyler Lake (Hemsworth) and Nick (Golshifteh Farahani) his release from prison if they did another job for him and his unseen boss.

When Collider's Steve Weintraub asked if they had decided who that mysterious character was, Russo replied: “Yes, we know who that character is. It was created that way. If you like the relationship between Idris and Chris, you will enjoy 'Extraction 3.'”

Well, in the grand scheme of things, it looks like we'll be seeing the return of Tyler Lake on Netflix soon.

It is not easy to predict the release date of “Extraction 3,” as Joe Russo did not give an exact production date for the new sequel. Nevertheless, if the “Extraction” team works quickly and the sequel goes straight into production in the first few months of 2025, “Extraction 3” could be streamed later that year or in 2026.

The third installment of “Extraction” is not that surprising, given that the ending leaves the door open and that both films were once on Netflix's list of most popular movies.
