Apple is expected to unveil a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 by the end of October And according to new leaks, this entry-level Apple laptop will get the ability to support up to two external displays
The latest leak was published by Russian Youtuber romancev768 (via Mac Rumors) In their video, a MacBook with its lid open can be clearly seen connected to two external monitors
The current entry-level MacBook Pro with M3 can only support one external display with a maximum resolution of 6K Alternatively, it can be connected via HDMI to a display with a maximum resolution of 4K and a refresh rate of 120 Hz This is with the laptop lid open; the MacBook Pro can support two displays with the lid closed
Assuming this Russian leak is correct, the forthcoming M4 version of the MacBook Pro will have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, meaning the upgraded version can support two displays with the lid open
Currently, the M3 14-inch MacBook Pro has two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports; the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M3 Pro and M3 Max CPUs have three Thunderbolt 4 ports
The M3 Pro and M3 Max versions also include a native DisplayPort via USB-C and an HDMI port capable of supporting one 8K display at 60 Hz or one 4K display at 240 Hz
It is not clear from the leaked information whether the new M4 MacBook Pro will get these capabilities along with the additional Thunderbolt 4 port
Apple is expected to announce a new M4 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro by the end of October, along with new versions of the iMac, Mac mini, and higher-end MacBook Pro with more powerful M4 chips However, some rumors say we may not see new Apple computers until November
