There is nothing more annoying than being in a hurry and realizing that your cell phone is charging unexpectedly slowly Well, except maybe if you are driving slowly for no good reason, but that's a whole other story
Fortunately, battery may not be an issue with iOS 18
As discovered on Reddit, the iOS 18 developer beta has started using more colors in the battery settings menu And if you are connected to a slow charger, Apple will display "slow charger" in orange instead of the usual green
It was also claimed that the Slow Charger flag was trying to link to a non-existent support article Presumably, this suggests that Apple may release that page at some point in the future when the public beta of iOS 18 launches
What is not clear is what Apple considers "late" in this case The Redditor in question was using a 5W charger at the time, which everyone agrees is a rather slow charging speed But where is the breaking point? 10W seems like a good place to start, but still considerably slower than the fastest charging speed the iPhone can offer iPhone 15 charging speeds peak at 20W, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max reaches 27W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging reaches up to 15W
However, this feature could prove very useful Especially if Apple can provide information about the reasons for the slower charging speeds of cell phones After all, it is not always because they are using a low-power charger Temperature, battery level, and charge optimization software could all affect the charging speed
It would also be better if iOS 18 could warn of slow charging speeds without having to go into the battery settings menu If this works as intended, though, it would probably be a good start After all, this is beta software and nothing is guaranteed
