LG Display Announces Production of New Gaming OLED - World's First

LG Display manufactures a new gaming OLED panel for gaming monitors that features the first dynamic frequency and resolution capability

This exciting new product by LG Display is designed to provide players with the ultimate gaming experience by switching refresh rates and resolutions from 240 Hz for UHD to 480 Hz for FHD, depending on the type of content

LG Display emphasizes that genres such as racing and first-person shooters are best suited for the high refresh rate mode (480Hz), as opposed to viewing 4K movies and programs in the high resolution mode (240Hz) Also included will be MLA panels that make OLED TVs brighter and the so-called Thin Actuator Sound feature that improves audio [LG Display's first gaming OLED solution is a 315-inch panel, which will be supplied to LG Electronics and will likely be included in its lineup of Ultra Gear monitors such as the LG UltraGear 45GR75DC Other global gaming gear brands are expected to begin supplying this panel later in the year

LG Display's new switchable refresh rate and resolution feature is a major game changer for players looking for variation when using the best gaming PCs called DFR, this new feature allows users to tailor their monitor's gaming experience to their own preferences by switching from 240 Hz at 4K to 480 Hz at 1080p

The technology will first be used in LG Display's new 315-inch solution, with various sizes to be added later as mass production of gaming OLED panels progresses

The use of MLA panels, which often conflict with WOLED and QD-OLED displays, is what makes this new gaming OLED solution truly stand out, as seen in LG's own best OLED TVs, such as the LG G3 OLED and LG C3 OLED, panels breakthroughs have improved the brightness of the monitors

LG Display also claims that these panels offer the fastest response time of any PC monitor on the market, 003ms in 480Hz mode below 10ms is very good, but even in the TV field, such low input lag panels are few and far between, and if accurate, could be advantageous for gaming monitor brands

Thin Actuator Sound technology rounds out the list of features This new technology allows audio from the panel to sound more crisp and clear, as if it were coming directly from the screen, without the need for one of the best computer speakers This is similar to the new Acoustic Surface Audio Plus found in Sony's 2024 TV lineup

LG Display's new panel is an exciting new addition to the gaming monitor landscape and should bring some major competition to the ecosystem It is still unclear when gamers can expect this new panel to officially hit the market, but we will definitely keep you informed
