HMD has introduced three new Nokia feature phones that build on past designs with a modern twist Great for those who are nostalgic about playing Snake on a Nokia with a custom case bought from a shady guy at the local mall
The Finnish manufacturer lists them as the Nokia 6310 (2024), 5310 (2024), and Nokia 230 (2024) This is not the first time the company has reworked older designs for those who love smaller, more affordable phones But the tweaks are certainly more significant this time around [For example, the Nokia 6310 is essentially the same as the Nokia 6310 (2021) with a VGA flash camera on the back, a 28-inch LCD screen, and dual SIM slots However, HMD added a larger 1,450 mAh battery (up from 1,150 mAh) and a USB-C port for easier charging
Meanwhile, the 5310 is taller and wider than the previous Nokia 5310 (2020) model, making room for an expanded battery (also 1,450 mAh, up from 1,200 mAh) HMD also added an improved chipset Unisoc 6531F and a larger 28" LCD The internal design remains unchanged from previous models, with 8/16 MB memory, SD card slot, dual speakers, and built-in FM radio
The Nokia 230 (2024) follows the same trend as the other two models, with a relatively similar design to the 2015 Nokia 230, but with a larger battery The phone maintains a 28-inch TFT screen with 65K colors However, it has a 1,450 mAh battery, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth 50 with the Unisoc 6531F chipset However, front and rear 2 MP cameras, a 35 mm audio jack, and 8/16 MB storage remain from the previous model
HMD knows that devices like these will attract people who want basic functionality and a low price, or older design elements like having a physical keypad
These new Nokias look like something from the stone age when compared to our picks for best or best budget phones, but they offer all the standard features one would expect from a so-called dumb phone, such as Bluetooth connectivity and a music player It should be noted, however, that all three models are locked to 2G and cannot connect to 3G or other newer networks
HMD has not yet revealed the price of the phones, but they will probably be considerably cheaper than modern smartphones; we'll have to wait and see how much HMD decides to price its phones, but in the meantime, if you're looking for a good but expensive device, our Best Cheapest Smartphones list you can check out We also have a list of the best small phones if you're looking for something that fits easily in your pocket
