The iPad 2024 lineup will be released in the spring - here's what we know at this time

Apple did not release a single iPad in 2023, but it appears that the company will revamp its entire iPad lineup in 2024 If reports are accurate, this could happen as early as this spring

Bloomberg reporter and Apple informant Mark Gurman again stated in his PowerOn newsletter that the new iPads will ship in the spring The reporter claims that Apple wants to unveil the revamped iPad line before the WWDC event, which is usually held in June If so, the new iPads could be released between late March and late May

As we previously reported, Apple may announce an OLED iPad Pro and a 129-inch iPad Air Previous reports have also suggested that the 9th generation iPad may be discontinued and replaced by the current iPad 10 as the least expensive iPad Also, the iPad Mini 7 may be released in 2024

Keeping in mind that Apple has not officially announced a new iPad, below is everything we have heard about the iPad we might see in 2024

The iPad Pro 2022 I reviewed is currently the most powerful iPad available thanks to the Apple M2 chip If the rumors are true, its successor could take its place, as it is said to be powered by the same Apple M3 chip found in the new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro This would make the iPad Pro virtually equivalent to the MacBook Pro

Rumors and reports also suggest that the iPad Pro will finally feature an OLED display; OLED screen technology would be a significant improvement over the current mini-LED technology found in the 129-inch model; Gurman said that the 129-inch iPad Pro will have a 13-inch screen and a 13-inch screen 9-inch iPad Pro will be upgraded to a 13-inch screen, a rumor we have heard from other sources; the 11-inch tablet is said not to increase in size Display analyst Ross Young also makes this claim Another rumor claims that the iPad Pro could get a 14-inch version

According to analyst Ming-chi Kuo, the iPad Air 6 will come in two sizes for the first time: an existing 109-inch model and a new, larger 129-inch model that will match the iPad Pro Kuo also notes that while this larger iPad will still have an LCD panel, but claims that it will have an Oxide backplane with "the same specs as the existing mini-LED iPad Pro" However, we have also heard that the new iPad Air will feature an OLED panel

The current iPad Air 5 has an M1 chip We are wondering if the 129-inch iPad Air will just be a larger version of the 109-inch model, but we have not heard anything about any design changes However, nothing has been heard about any design changes

Since the iPad just got a new design, it is unlikely that Apple will make any changes to the iPad 11 beyond upgrading from the A14 Bionic chip to the A16 Bionic found in the current iPhone 15

Even if this entry-level iPad is not a major update from the current model, the renewed focus on Apple Pencil support will be welcome; with the release of the USB-C Apple Pencil, Apple has given people the option to Perhaps it is time to abandon the first generation Apple Pencil in order to simplify it

The USB-C Apple Pencil was released in October 2023 for $79, making it Apple's most affordable stylus; it attaches magnetically to the iPad 10 but does not charge; hopefully the iPad 11 will offer this type of charging We have not heard any rumors suggesting that Apple will add wireless charging (and pairing), but we would like to see it

As for the iPad mini 7, there is little we can say about the specs It would be nice to see a new iPad mini 7 with the current A13 Bionic upgraded to the A16 Bionic or A17 Pro chips found in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max, respectively

One report claims that Apple will release an 87-inch iPad mini in 2024 This number is not a misprint The current iPad mini has an 83-inch LCD screen, and ETNews (via 9to5Mac) suggests that it will get that much larger in the coming years No one knows if it will eliminate the bezel or have a larger footprint, just as the iPad mini 6 eliminated the bezel over its 79-inch predecessor

As always, there are no official reports on the 2024 iPad, so please take everything in this post with a healthy dose of skepticism That said, I don't expect another year to go by without Apple releasing a new model of the popular tablet Despite the lack of an official announcement, I'm inclined to believe Garman's assertion that it could be released in the spring In any case, it won't be long until we find out
