Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and rumored triple foldable could be joined by a foldable and rollable tablet, according to a new patent from the company discovered by David at xleaks7 and published by Calibre Cleaning

Simply named "Display Device," the patent is a novel design for a pocketable tablet that features both a traditional folding hinge and a telescoping rolling display We have seen these concepts separately, but never together in one device

The illustration brought to us by xleaks7 shows a device that looks a bit like the Galaxy Z Fold from the sides and back, except the camera is on the non-hinged side However, it is very different from the front due to the lack of a cover display

Opening the device reveals a large inner display This screen can be extended to one side using a rollable mechanism

This combination allows the unfolded device to offer small and large screen modes, or the folded device to expose a small vertical segment of the display The latter mode could be used to check notifications or manipulate certain widgets without opening the device, like the small cover displays found on foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 5

This year should bring the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, as well as the aforementioned triple foldable if the rumors are true As a result, this could be a big year for Samsung's foldable (assuming Samsung succeeds with the triple foldable the first time around), but don't expect this foldable and rolling tablet to be featured as well

Patents are, after all, only claims to ideas and do not guarantee a product at any point Samsung has thoroughly proven that it can produce a foldable cell phone, and the rollable concept shows that it could theoretically produce and sell a device with that technology However, we will likely have to wait a few more years before this "display device" is available as a new Galaxy Z or Galaxy Tab model

Samsung typically announces a new foldable device every August, so the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will likely appear around that time We will keep an eye out for more rumors about these phones as the launch date approaches, and for further details that may indicate that the supposed triple foldable or foldable-rollable hybrid tablet is more than just an idea
