House of Mario will be airing a new Nintendo Direct this week The company's latest game showcase is confirmed to take place this Wednesday at 6am PT/9am ET/2pm GMT Technically, it is a "partner showcase" and not a full direct However, there is still plenty of excitement
X's official Nintendo North America account confirmed the timing, and it appears that the 25-minute presentation will showcase both first-party and third-party Nintendo Switch games (thanks to The Verge)
Nintendo has been surprisingly tight-lipped about details Kyoto-based Nintendo is tight-lipped, and with credible rumors circulating for the past week that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not launch in 2024, perhaps they want to keep the scenario almost completely under control Instead, the Nintendo Switch 2, a possible successor to the highly successful portable hybrid, is likely to be released in the first quarter of 2025
The main reason for the delay (though there was no official release date) seems to stem from a desire to have as many launch games for the Nintendo Switch 2 as possible That would be a sensible strategy, especially considering that when Switch 1 launched, the only game that was talked about was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
While we can't say "never" because of this, let's not bet against a Switch 2 showing up in a new Nintendo Direct (famous last words) It is possible that Nintendo will confirm the name of the console, but I would be surprised if they reveal the final hardware design The word definitely wouldn't bother me, would it?
Nintendo Twitt Sorry, to borrow the "X" word, Direct's focus will be on Switch 1 games: Princess Peach Showtime (due out March 22), Tales of Kenzera: Zau (due out April 23), Luigi's Mansion 2 HD", and "Hollow Knight": Silksong has a trailer/gameplay walkthrough
If your cup is about to overflow in your lap, you might be tempted to suggest that Metroid Prime 4 will make a return in the latest Nintendo Direct While that would obviously be great, the chances of Samus' long-awaited sequel suddenly popping up don't seem very high At this point, "Metroid Prime 4" will most likely be a cross-gen game that will appear on both Switch 1 and Switch 2 (just as "BotW" was released simultaneously on Wii U and Switch at launch) Expectations
