Google has announced a new "Help Me Write" tool for the Chrome browser This makes writing reviews, giving feedback, and filling out lengthy forms easier than ever
"Help me write" is the latest version of an artificial intelligence feature that is being integrated into Google's browser and is designed to make the web browsing experience easier and more personalized This includes a tab organizer and theme generator
The new features are available for Mac and Windows in the US and in English Specifically, Google says it will be included in version M122 of Chrome "this week," but this version was available as of Tuesday, February 20, so it would not be surprising if it were available now Other countries and languages are expected to be added in the coming months
Help me write is built on top of Google's powerful Gemini AI model These are the same tools that power the Gemini chatbot and the new Gemini Assistant on Android
Users can use Help me write to revise what they have already written or write something from scratch
It can be used for any form on any website, from selling furniture on Marketplace to submitting restaurant reviews on Yelp You can either refine what you started writing to get the best possible results from your words, or write from scratch from a prompt
According to Google, you don't even need a prompt to start writing because the tool understands the context of the web page you are visiting and suggests relevant content
It uses the same technology as Gemini's chatbot, so it can create well-structured paragraphs Its ability to reason and understand complex prompts also allows it to create contextual content that fits the requirements of the site it is visiting
"If you are writing a review of running shoes, Chrome will extract key features from the product page that support your recommendation and make it more valuable to potential shoppers," said Adriana Porter Forter, engineering director on the Google Chrome team Adriana Porter Felt, Director of Engineering for the Google Chrome team, explains
Another example from Google is selling content online For example, "Help me write a prompt: "I'm moving to a small place that sells air flyers for $50"
The tool suggests changing the text to something like: "I'm moving to a small place and don't have room for my air flyer It's in good condition, works great, and I'm selling it for $50 Please contact me if interested"
Another example is an inquiry about hotel reservations Initially, I was going to write: "My plane lands at 9:00 am, so I need an early check-in
The help me write function might suggest: "My flight is scheduled to arrive at 9:00 AM and I would like to check in as soon as possible Is there any way to check in early? If no, when is the earliest I can check in?"
Some of these features are already available from other apps like Grammarly, within Outlook if you have a Copilot Pro subscription, or experimentally in Gmail Since this tool is a core feature of the browser, it will work in all apps
