The rumored iPhone 16 design is clearer than ever thanks to a purported new CAD image of the iPhone 16 released by leaker Majin Bu on Twitter/X
This latest image shows only one angle of the iPhone 16, but it does give a good look at the new camera bump design It is no longer a square that can fit a diagonal camera, but a vertically aligned column like the iPhone X, which can almost fit the expected two camera lenses, and what appears to be a flash module has been driven out to the main back panel
This was probably done to visually differentiate this year's iPhones from the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15, but we also expect this to be Apple's preparation for adding Spatial video capabilities to the standard iPhone 16
To capture this first VR video format, the main camera and ultrawide camera must work together, which the iPhone 15 Pro, with its main camera and ultrawide camera positioned vertically, already does However, placing these cameras diagonal to each other seems to mean that this is currently not possible for the regular iPhone 15 model and the iPhone 15 Plus
Looking at the left side of this image, we can see a slight indentation in the phone's casing where the power button and the Capture button, a capacitive key that Apple is said to be new for all iPhone 16s, would appear While the name of the new button is known, its function beyond having to do with taking photos and videos is unknown We suspect something like a shutter button for easier shooting, similar to phones like the Sony Xperia 1 V
Also, at this level it is difficult to distinguish if it is a button or simply the familiar mute switch sticking out, though, There is a glimpse of a possible action button on the right side It is claimed that this iPhone 15 Pro-specific button will be included on all iPhone 16 models, allowing all buyers to freely set up shortcut functions
X/Twitter user Majin Bu, who published this CAD image, is the source of other iPhone 16 design leaks, including project drawings, physical mockups, and concept images Their contributions alone give us at least a pretty strong idea of what Apple's basic 2024 iPhone will look like
We can expect more iPhone leaks to appear in the coming months, but we probably won't know anything for sure until this September For now, keep our iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max hubs bookmarked And check out our iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15 showdown to see how else the new phones could differ from the current models
