Recent leaks have revealed some of the Geekbench scores for the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 If these numbers are accurate, it could significantly outperform Apple's A18 chip
Qualcomm has announced that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be available this October While only tentative details about the chip's specs have been revealed so far, this new leak gives us a clearer picture of what we can expect from the next-generation Snapdragon
According to rumors, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 achieves a Geekbench single-core score in the 3,500s This is higher than Apple's A18 chip and matches the maximum score reported for the A18 Pro chip in the iPhone 16 Pro Actual numbers from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's multi-core and GPU tests have not been leaked, but it appears to outperform the A18 by a significant margin
If these numbers are true, this may be the first time Qualcomm has successfully surpassed the capabilities of Apple's chip in single-core tests; in the fastest phone in 2023, Apple outperformed the Android model with relative ease However, with the release of the Galaxy S24 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the gap in single-core scores has narrowed and multi-core scores have improved
But while these numbers may be impressive, the report also contains bad news: the prime core of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is clocked at 43GHz and may consume 13V These numbers mean that the chip will run at very high temperatures, which is beyond the current capabilities of many smartphones
It is important to note that when it comes to Geekbench leaks, the numbers are not necessarily gospel Several factors could change the base numbers, or they could be misinformation However, if these numbers are true, it would be good news for products that want to use the next generation Snapdragon chip, if they are able to do so We won't know if this chip is as good as reported until we get a chance to test it ourselves
