Motorola has announced the best challengers for its new budget phones, the Moto G 5G 2024 and Moto G Power 5G 2024, which will be available later this month
Many of the features of these phones are similar to the 2023 versions, but the upgrades Motorola has made could go a long way to increasing the appeal of these two phones We'll leave the final judgment to you when we review these handsets, but for now let's take a look at the main specs of the Moto G Power 2024 and Moto G 5G 2024 and how they have improved from the previous models
The more expensive of the two new Moto's, the $299 G Power, again features a 67-inch FHD LCD display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate Motorola, however, has dramatically updated the design with new vegan leather on the back It comes in two colors, midnight blue and pale lilac, both of which look great against the textured back panel
The G-Power is touted as water repellent, but it is not officially IP-rated like many other phones on the market today Unlike those other devices, however, the G-Power features a headphone jack for when you need to listen to music or video in person, as well as stereo speakers for when you don't With support for Dolby Atmos, the sound will be richer no matter what environment you listen to music in
For photography, the G Power has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with macro lens capability, and a 16MP front camera The old G Power had a depth and macro sensor on the back, so the ultrawide camera seems like a pretty good upgrade [30W wired charging (double the wired charging speed of the previous Moto G Power) and new 15W wireless charging support As its name suggests, the G Power line has performed well in past battery tests, so we expect the same great results with this model
Inside the G Power is a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 running in conjunction with 8GB RAM; Moto's RAM Boost feature can be used to increase storage up to 8GB When it comes to storage, the default is 128GB, but it can be further expanded by 1 terabyte with a microSD card
If you are interested in purchasing this model, it will be available on Cricket on March 22 and then on other carriers If you are interested in purchasing an unlocked version, it will also be available on Amazon, Motorola, and Best Buy starting March 29
Meanwhile, the $199 Moto G 5G is slightly smaller, with a 66-inch HD display, but boasts a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and the same stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support as the larger model The device also features vegan leather, but is only available in one color, sage green
Also like the Moto G Power, the new Moto G has a 50MP main camera However, the other sensors are downgraded, consisting of a 2MP macro unit on the back and an 8MP selfie camera on the front
Instead of the Dimensity chip in the G Power, the regular G has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, 4GB of RAM (with an additional 4GB of RAM Boost if needed) and 128GB of storage (still supporting 1TB microSD) The 5,000mAh battery has the same capacity as the Power, but this model offers only 18W wired charging and no wireless charging capability
The Moto G 2024 will be available on T-Mobile and Metro on March 21, with other carriers following If you want an unlocked version, you may have to wait a little longer
