Since his first class, Peloton has used music to keep his workout motivation up Since then, the variety of songs has grown, but Peloton is taking it a step further and will be hosting his first live DJ ride from his London studio later this year
Of course, you'll need the best exercise bike and a Peloton membership to participate, but this is one of several dance-focused sessions that will be added to the Peloton app throughout the year in celebration of UK-based house label Defected Records' 25th anniversary sessions
The first class, taught by dancer-turned-instructor Liane Hainsby with a custom music mix by BBC radio DJ Ariel Free, will go live on March 21 There will be a total of six cycling classes with songs curated by DJs from Defected Records, as well as three live DJ rides
The new classes are nightclub-inspired, so expect lots of bright colors and lots of dance music (although we hope you don't get a headache the next day)
If you are not in the UK, it will be streamed live via app to all Peloton members The content of each DJ's mix is unknown, but Peloton and Defected have released a playlist that includes tracks from Idris Elba, CamelPhat, and Endor
Defected Records was founded in 1999 and has been featured on modern house classics such as Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance" and Kings of Tomorrow's "Finally" Most recently, Endor's 2019 remix of "Pump It Up" was a huge hit, racking up over 330 million streams on Spotify
These up-tempo dance tracks are also great for keeping pace, making them the perfect soundtrack to a spin session, and Zumba recently released an app that allows people to dance their way to a healthier body without the need for a studio or group workout
The combination of Defected's DJs and Peloton's famously motivating instructors should make for a fun and effective ride that tones muscles and gets the heart pumping However, it may be worth wearing workout headphones to protect everyone from the bass
