Microsoft has finally enabled the ability for users to create custom chatbots, known as GPTs, with its Copilot Pro artificial intelligence chatbot
Copilot is built on the same underlying technology as ChatGPT, and the OpenAI chatbot has had GPT since last November, and later opened a store for creators to share their bots
The new Copilot GPT feature was quietly rolled out to Copilot Pro users who pay $20/month to access the premium chatbot; unlike ChatGPT, Microsoft's GPT is available to free users
GPT allows external function calls to custom instruction sets, private data sets, and even third-party services; GPT adds functionality not available in the base version of Copilot
GPT can be kept private or shared with other Copilot users, including the free version of Microsoft Chatbot
One example use of GPT is to create custom instructions for an underlying AI model that is particularly good at generating logos or writing recipes in a particular format
In theory, this could be accomplished by simply sharing prompts, but it would not work as well as building a GPT to further train the model on that instruction set
Copilot GPT Builder is a platform used to create custom GPTs, which are built without code using simple natural language prompts
Microsoft suggests giving the custom GPT a complete meal plan with meal requirements and using it to create a grocery list That way you can ask for a list of groceries you need today and it will be pulled from your plan
This can be accessed from the new My Custom Copilot tab and can be used by designers as well as GPT-4 or GPT-4-Turbo language models
Overall, the process for creating a Copilot GPT is the same as the process for creating a ChatGPT GPT, which we covered previously Follow the chat, give it a name and task, and if necessary, custom data
To create a GPT, you must use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome on your computer; the GPT is created through a conversation with a builder, who asks a series of questions, and your answers train a new chatbot
