Another day, another serious PS5 Pro rumor has surfaced Last week we wrote about the potentially game-changing graphics enhancements, and now more leaked specs have surfaced regarding Sony's (as yet unconfirmed) gaming console
According to sources at Insider Gaming, the PS5 Pro will feature a significant boost in system memory performance Both the current PS5 and the recent PS5 Slim have 448 GB of memory, but the Pro could have as much as 576 GB of system memory, which would equate to a 28% performance boost
According to Insider Gaming, the PlayStation 5 Pro's CPU design will remain the same as the OG PS5's processor, but the rumored new model will have a "high CPU frequency mode" that will increase the CPU clock speed to 35GHz This would give the Pro a 10% clock increase over the regular PS5
Audio improvements are also being considered Be prepared for a lot of jargon So it looks like the PS5 Pro's Audio Compression Manager (or "ACM" for short) will boast a 35% performance improvement over the regular PlayStation 5 At present, it is a little difficult to know what this means However, this particular sound enhancement could result in more accurate and impressive 3D spatial audio, which is already super pleasing to the ears on the now slightly aging PS5
This latest report also tells us more about the recently rumored GPU boost that the PS5 Pro may feature As we recently reported, the Pro's rendering could be 45% faster than the PS5, ray tracing performance could quadruple in some games, and the rumored system will have 335 teraflops of computing power and "PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling" and may employ a new image upsampling method called "Upscaling
There is also talk that the upgraded machine will feature some sort of custom machine learning architecture and AI accelerator Apparently, the PS5 Pro could also support up to 8K in-game resolution I own one of the best gaming PCs with an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU and know that when gaming at 8K on many modern titles, even the fastest consumer graphics cards in the world will drop frame rates
Rumors of the PS5 Pro are growing by the week, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sony officially confirms the console's existence in the coming months and that it will eventually be available by the end of the year
