Few companies are as synonymous with "home" as IKEA: Parasoll (door and window open/close events), Vallhorn (motion triggers), and Badring (water leaks) These sensors come with basic notifications and controls, but when combined with the Ikea Dirigera hub ($6999, Ikeacom), they can be accessed by other major smart home ecosystems from Amazon, Google, and Apple

Parasoll is the first detector to be released in January, priced at $899 It is a sophisticated door and window sensor that can be easily installed on a variety of trimmings and cabinets When a door or window slides open, the device will let you know at which entrance the event occurred It can also be used to automate everyday activities, such as turning on a light for one minute when a pantry door is opened

For even smarter lighting automation, the Vallhorn motion sensor works anywhere indoors or outdoors The cube can be paired directly with up to 10 smart light bulbs When motion is detected, the connected smart lights are activated, such as in a hallway or entryway, etc The IP44 rating makes it resistant to rain splashes, so it can be installed outdoors as well Pricing has not yet been announced

Lastly, Badring's water leak detector detects the presence of a leak and sounds a built-in alarm; when paired with the Dirigera hub, it sends notifications to connected smart speakers and light bulbs as well as smartphones as soon as a leak is detected The Badring water leak detector will be available in July; pricing has not yet been announced

All three smart sensors are based on the Zigbee wireless protocol and will be connected to the IKEA Home smart system
