Fans of the Infinity line will be pleased to find that this is still a very stable running shoe, designed for easy to long runs, and for beginners and experienced runners alike That said, this shoe looks and feels very different from previous versions And how does it compare to the best running shoes on the market and the best Nike running shoes? For more information, read our review of the Nike Infinity Run 4 below
The Nike Infinity Run 4 is slightly more expensive than the Nike React Infinity 3, which was released in April 2022; the new shoe, released on July 13, 2023, costs $160/155 pounds The shoe is available in men's and women's sizes and is slightly cheaper than the Nike Invincible 3 but more expensive than the Nike Pegasus 40
I tried the Nike Infinity Run 4 in my usual size, UK 5/US 75 I will say that the Flyknt upper was quite tight compared to previous versions of the shoe for a snug fit and I would say that if you were in between sizes, it is worth sizing up here That said, the toe box was roomy and I had no issues with the fit of the shoe For more information, see our guide to running shoe fit
Upper
The upper of the Infinity Run 4 is Nike's new Flyknit upper, which is designed to wrap around the foot while remaining breathable and flexible The upper has volume in the toe area and a waterproof liner to prevent your feet from getting too wet when running through muddy puddles As with other elements of the shoe, Nike is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, and the new upper produces 60% less waste than traditional footwear upper manufacturing Thus, the shoe's uppers produce 60% less waste than traditional footwear upper manufacturing
Also, the large plastic heel grip that was present in the React Infinity 3 and React Infinity 2 is gone, but running in the Infinity Run 4 feels like you are locked in Midsole
The midsole of the "Infinity Run 4" features the new ReactX midsole foam, which Nike designed with the environment in mind According to Nike, the ReactX foam will reduce the carbon footprint by at least 43% compared to the Nike React foam used in the Infinity Run 3 Nike states that the ReactX foam increases energy returns by 13%
The shoe still has the same rocker geometry we have seen in past versions, but is slightly squishier underfoot than the Nike React midsole foam While not as soft as the ZoomX foam used in the Invincible 3, it feels softer underfoot than the React used in the React Infinity 3 During testing, however, the Infinity 4 felt less cushioned in the forefoot than the Infinity 3
Outsole
The outsole of the Infinity Run 4 has a much wider base than the Infinity 3, which tapers around the midsole It features a rubber outsole, with a different lug pattern than what we saw earlier on the shoe for better grip on wet sidewalks This thicker, wider outsole definitely accounts for some of the weight increase of the shoe, but the outsole definitely looks more durable I think it looks great and the first iteration of the Infinity was one of my go-to long run shoes because of its stable, firm ride
I wanted to love the Nike Infinity Run 4 However, these shoes are heavy In fact, along with the Adidas Ultra Boost Light, it is one of the heaviest running shoes in my list of best running shoes They are heavier than the Invincible 3 and the Pegasus 40, and you notice this underfoot [Also, the midsole foam has a soft feel, but doesn't feel as responsive, especially when trying to pick up the pace in the shoe I liked the fit and feel of the Infinity 3, which felt like it had a more exaggerated rocker and a more responsive underfoot experience; with the ReactX foam being squishy, I feel like I lost some rebound from the shoe [| you can do it so that you can really come across that you actually i promise with my partner, anyone can quickly forget about just how seemingly exactly how {} these seemingly just ignore people Nike's focus on carbon footprint is obviously an excellent move, but the React X needs a little adjustment because it loses some responsiveness in this shoe [But the ReactX needs a little adjustment because reactivity is compromised in this shoe If you prefer a cushioned running shoe, I would choose the Nike Invincible 3 or the Asics Gel Nimbus 25 over the Nike Infinity Run 4 Both of the other shoes have a sink-in feel, but also provide more rebound while running
Finally, if you're looking for a bargain, now is the time to buy the Nike React Infinity 3 I preferred the underfoot experience of running shoes this last season, which would suit anyone looking for a durable, easy or long run shoe
