Google Cancels pre-order for Pixel Fold - What you Need to Know

The Google Pixel Fold will arrive tomorrow, June 27, after being available for pre-order for nearly two months However, those who have already pre-ordered from the Google Store in hopes of becoming early adopters (or getting a free Pixel Watch) may want to double-check their order status In case Google cancels without telling you

Some users have reported that their Pixel Fold pre-orders were cancelled or put on hold because they "did not match (Google's) sales period," or that they could not confirm payment details The worst part about this is that users were not notified of the cancellation via email, and the problem was discovered when they logged in to check the status of their order

Judging from what is happening on Reddit and social media, the problem is twofold One pre-order has been completely cancelled, while the other has been put on hold Apparently Google admits this is a bug, but users are not getting much help from customer support

Users whose pre-orders have been canceled are told that there is little Google can do and the only solution is to place another order One Reddit user claims that he originally expected delivery on June 28, but after redoing his order (repeatedly), he now has to wait until August

Users whose purchases were put on hold apparently fared little better Instead of being suddenly cancelled without any warning, they appear to have been proactively contacted by Google and asked to update their payment information It's annoying, especially if there are no glaring problems with your initial choices, but it still means that Google intends to ship your phone as scheduled

Notably, this issue seems to affect only those ordered directly through Google If you ordered your Pixel Fold through your carrier, you should be safe, but it wouldn't hurt to check the status of your order just in case

Anyway, this doesn't look particularly good for Google; the Pixels may not be the best-selling Android phone in the world, but Google is big enough that this kind of problem shouldn't happen

So if you were preparing to pre-order the Pixel Fold, check it out now so you don't have to experience any unwelcome surprises in the near future
