New details, both official and unofficial, on the Google Pixel 7 have been released, including the design, price, and possible face unlock feature of the new model

First, the official design information comes from the Pixel 7 design teaser video from Google (opens in new tab) As with Google's previous trailers, we can see the phone's new look from all angles

While there are obviously many similarities to the Pixel 7 Pro we've already seen, there are some important differences There is one less camera (the base model has no telephoto), the edges of the display are flat instead of curved, and the materials appear to be different, with metal edges and turtle rubber having a matte finish instead of a glossy finish

The color choices are also slightly different Both models come in Snow and Obsidian, but the Pixel 7 Pro has a unique Hazel option, while the standard Pixel 7 comes in Lemongrass

Meanwhile, outside of Google's official Pixel teasers, leaked information about new phones continues to emerge

First, there was a price leak by Roland Quandt of WinFuture Like the previous price leak, it comes from Amazon and shows the base price of the Pixel 7 at €649 This is certainly not bad news, as it is the same price as the Pixel 6 currently available in Europe, suggesting no price increase for the Pixel 7 despite economic challenges around the world

However, it would have been nice to see the price drop further and really capitalize on the Pixel 6's status as the best value among flagship smartphones

Second, the long-awaited return of Face Unlock to the Pixel could have been confirmed by Android expert Mishaal Rahman While searching the Google Play Console, he found details of two new phones, including that the new Tensor G2 chip offers faster speeds with better components, supports swappable eSIM, and supports secure face unlocking

The only Pixels that offered this previously were the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, but they used additional sensors to verify the user's face, as Face ID does on recent iPhones; the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have no evidence of these sensors, which raises questions about how secure this system is by comparison

All will no doubt be revealed at the Google October event on the 6th (next Thursday) But the Pixel is not the only thing Google will unveil We will certainly see the long-awaited Google Pixel Watch, Google will hopefully show us something more about the Pixel Tablet, and if we are really lucky, we will also see the Pixel Fold
