OnePlus Nord2 design just leaked — this is your first look

The OnePlus Nord 2 may be detailed in a new set of renderings that preview design tweaks over the original OnePlus Nord

The leaked images are courtesy of Steve "OnLeaks" Hemmerstoffer, who claims via his Voice page that while the device has the codename "Ebba," he believes this will be the follow-up to the OnePlus Nord N10 5G He states

The design is familiar to anyone who has seen the Nord N10 The construction appears to be similar, with the device having a metal frame with a shiny plastic back and a USB-C port and 35mm headphone jack at the bottom

Hemmerstoffer also reports dimensions: 1629 x 747 x 84 mm, which equates to 64 x 29 x 03 inches, making it slightly narrower and thinner than the Nord N10 in relative terms

The rendered image shows off a flat-edge 649" display and a punch-hole camera in the upper left corner This is the same LCD display of the Nord N10, which boasted FHD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate We expect these features to be included in this next Nord phone as well

The three rear cameras are arranged in the same rectangular camera block as on the Nord N10, the less expensive OnePlus Nord N100, and OnePlus' latest flagship, the OnePlus 8T However, it has one less than the Nord N10, which has four cameras consisting of a main, ultra-wide, monochrome, and macro sensor

In our review of the Nord N10, we criticized the Nord N10's poor monochrome and macro shot performance Therefore, we would not be too upset to assume that it was one of these that was omitted

A notable change is the location of the fingerprint scanner It has been moved from the circular patch on the back to inside the power button on the right side This seems like a good opportunity, as it will clean up the look of the back and will definitely be more useful when the phone needs to be unlocked

The leak does not talk about internal changes, such as which chipset, camera sensor, or battery technology

One of the rumored internal changes is that OnePlus will ditch its current Snapdragon chipset in favor of one made by MediaTek for the Nord 2 This could lower the price of the phone and potentially increase its performance, depending on which Dimensity chip is used

The original Nord N10 was just released in the US in January (November 2020 in the UK) It may be several months before OnePlus launches this new Nord device, especially given the impending launch of the OnePlus 9 But no matter when it appears, it has the potential to be one of our best budget smartphones, doing what the original Nord N10 could not
