Microsoft's next round of product reveals could include the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2+, an updated, more professional version of the Surface Headphones 2
This new set of over-the-ear headphones has not leaked as widely as other upcoming products like the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and Microsoft Surface Laptop 4, but Windows Central is Microsoft's video reported that they will be "Teams Certified" for better performance with conferencing software
The Surface Headphones 2 Plus will be largely identical to the existing Surface Headphones 2 design, and Windows Central reports that Microsoft will actually sell replacement cushions, which will include removable ear cushions, which will likely include removable ear cushions
The biggest potential change is from Bluetooth connectivity to a dedicated USB dongle This is according to a tweet from Brad Sams, a regular Microsoft tipster, who stated that the Surface Headphones 2 Plus will include a dongle that will be "Teams Certified" Presumably this will give the new model a more reliable connection with better sound quality than the Bluetooth 50 that the Surface Headphones 2 uses
Microsoft may be trying the same approach here as it did with the Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ That is, upgrade the existing design to better suit professional users while leaving the door open for a more ambitious follow-on model (like the Surface Pro 8)
That said, the Surface Pro 7+ has seen a variety of important changes, including the addition of interchangeable storage and upgraded battery capacity By comparison, the Surface Headphones 2+'s change in wireless connectivity may not be a compelling enough reason for existing Surface Headphones owners to switch
Hopefully, if Microsoft reveals its impending hardware plans soon, we will know for sure; Windows Central expects at least the Surface Headphones 2+ and Surface Laptop 4 to be announced this spring We expect at least the Surface Headphones 2+ and Surface Laptop 4 to be announced this spring
