In the ever-expanding battle for best 5G network, T-Mobile once again stole the show, as the Uncarrier beat out AT&T and Verizon for the download speed, reach, and availability awards, according to Opensignal's latest report

T-Mobile also holds the top spot in 5G uploads, but AT&T is closing in fast Meanwhile, Verizon and AT&T were joint winners of the 5G Gaming Experience award, while AT&T won both the 5G Video Experience and 5G Voice App Experience awards

Opensignal provides a lot of information on what led to last quarter's findings: T-Mobile excelled in reach, availability, download speeds, and upload speeds; the 5G Reach award went to T-Mobile for "of all locations visited by 5G users and where they connected to 5G" best [5G Availability award, T-Mobile proved to be the winner by providing the most 5G coverage and connectivity: 331% of users stayed connected to 5G, compared to 205% for AT&T and 112% for Verizon

More importantly, T-Mobile outperformed its competitors with an average download speed of 713 Mbps AT&T was next with 549 Mbps, followed by Verizon at 477 Mbps 5G Upload was a closer race, with T-Mobile leading with 152 Mbps, AT&T at 10 Mbps, and Verizon at 129 Mbps [But T-Mobile didn't win it all; AT&T and Verizon tied for the "5G Games Experience" award, which measures latency in gaming over a cellular connection In the 5G Video Experience, both carriers were essentially tied T-Mobile lagged in these categories

AT&T won the award for its hair-raising 5G voice app experience This award "measures the quality of the experience of over-the-top (OTT) voice services (mobile voice apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, and Facebook Messenger) when users are connected to a 5G network"

T-Mobile continues to lead in most cases, but the other two may soon catch up if uncarriers don't pay attention In the meantime, let's look forward to Opensignal's next quarterly report
