As a chronic procrastinator and lazy person, I was especially bad at cleaning my house Even more so when it comes to vacuuming Yet, until very recently, I had not considered purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner
Now that I have actually purchased a robot vacuum cleaner, I can say that waiting so long was a huge mistake The robot vacuum cleaner is amazing and I can't believe it took me so long to actually buy one
Cleaning has always been one of my pet peeves Vacuuming in particular is loud, time consuming, and requires almost constant effort In fact, every time I get the vacuum out to clean, it takes me about 30 minutes before I need to clean again
This is keeping in mind that I live alone, with no pets or children If that situation were to change, God only knows what would happen to my floor
Vacuuming is the one chore I hate more than mowing the lawn or sorting the recycling I'm also lazy, so I much prefer lying on the couch doing something fun
Robotic vacuums have changed all that and taken most of the hassle out of vacuuming The model I purchased was the Eufy RoboVac 30C, which, while not on my list of best robot vacuums, had the combination of features I was looking for and a price to match When I purchased this robot, Eufy was having a sale and it was £170 where it normally costs £230 In the US it is normally $260, but the current sale price is $180
I could have bought a cheaper Eufy robot vacuum cleaner (11S) with similar cleaning capabilities for much less, but the lack of smart features was the deciding factor for me However, the lack of smart features was the deciding factor I don't regret this decision because now I can control my cleaning schedule while lying in bed
Upgrading to a robotic vacuum cleaner made me feel similar to when I replaced a cheap and terrible vacuum cleaner with an expensive cordless model a few years ago The difference in cleaning ability was unbelievable, and cleaning became so much easier and faster
It wasn't so much that I stopped resenting vacuuming, but enough that it actually took less time to get everything clean With a robot vacuum cleaner, that improves to an even more obvious level
Plus, it is quiet enough for me to continue cleaning without exposing my neighbors to the noise of a full-size vacuum cleaner I'm not one to vacuum in the middle of the night, but with COVID still home a lot of the time, the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck with a neighbor who is always cleaning
Admittedly, the suction power of my robot vacuum cleaner is not the best (as I mentioned in my review of the Eufy RoboVac 30C) However, this robot vacuum is very useful for casual cleaning and for removing dust and debris from the floor It can even get under furniture, so it can clean places that you normally wouldn't look at
Now that the installation is complete, it doesn't have to do anything except rescue the robot if it gets stuck This is because even the most advanced robotic vacuum cleaner is about as useful as a pet rock when faced with stairs
Thankfully, I've learned to keep the downstairs (where my robot vacuum cleaner buddy lives) tidy, so that doesn't happen much At least I make sure things are not strewn all over the floor To be honest, I have a tendency to casually toss things on the floor instead of putting them away It takes effort to get up to put them in their proper place, and I've already admitted that I'm eternally lazy
Perhaps that's one of the reasons I held off buying a robot vacuum cleaner for so long No matter how smart a robot vacuum cleaner is, it can't clean up after itself If you are smart enough to clean efficiently, you can sweep the area around it, but it still leaves areas of the floor that get no attention
This was a particular problem in my previous one-bed apartment With not much actual floor space and my own innate laziness, it would have been a bit of a minefield for a robot vacuum cleaner
Cost was also a factor in getting a robotic vacuum cleaner, but it really didn't have to be Sure, there are plenty of models chock-full of bells and whistles that cost hundreds of dollars But so are regular do-it-yourself vacuum cleaners Especially when it comes from a manufacturer like Dyson
Sure, there are robot vacuums like the Roomba s9+ that cost over $1,000 But the best cheap robot vacuums do much the same job for less than $200 They may not be able to automatically empty trash cans, mop floors, or map their surroundings for more efficient cleaning, but they will still walk around and clean
Not all cheap robot vacuums can be controlled by an app, but it's more convenient than doing all the work yourself if you just physically turn it on
If you don't already have a robot vacuum cleaner and have the funds to buy one, I definitely recommend it The cleaning gets done without my active participation, and the regular schedule actually keeps track of everything Plus, the robot is quiet, so no one disturbs me
The fact that I don't have to constantly vacuum has made my life significantly easier Frankly, I am still amazed that it has taken me this long I get a few minutes back each week to enjoy the finer things in life I mean, besides cleaning
