While it won't be able to compete with the new iPad 102 (2021) with the A13 Bionic chip, Samsung intends to put up a fight with its rumored low-priced Galaxy Tab A8
91Mobiles and Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks on Twitter) claim to have unearthed what Samsung plans to offer in the Tab A8 According to OnLeaks, the Tab A8 will feature a 105-inch 1920x1200 TFT WUXGA display, a Unisoc Tiger T618 system-on-chip (SoC) processor, 128GB of storage, and 3GB or 4GB of RAM It is also said to have a 7,040mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and will be available in gold, silver, and gray Tom's Guide has not been able to independently confirm these claims
As for style, the A8 will not look much different from last year's Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, according to renderings provided by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles It has a rectangular design with a single camera bump on the back However, the Tab A8 is expected to use a circular camera bump instead of the square camera bump found on the Tab A7
Unlike the new iPad mini 6 and the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 8, the Tab A8 will have thicker bezels and may look a bit dated by 2021 metrics But still, at 971 x 637 x 02 inches, it will be a relatively portable device overall, and the Tab A8 is likely to feature Dolby Atmos-enabled quad speakers with a 35mm headphone jack
Specs-wise, the Galaxy Tab A8 is likely to cost around $250, which is inferior to the iPad mini 6 ($499) and the 2021 iPad 102-inch ($329) The Unisoc Tiger T618 by Gadget Versus Geekbench score of 1,294 Compare that to the A13 bionic in this year's iPad, which has a score of 3,364, and the Tab A8 is gathering dust Adding insult to injury, the new iPad mini, which costs $500 more, is powered by the latest A15 bionic chip and has a Geekbench score of 4,425
At least the Tab A8 supports fast charging and a fingerprint scanner
Samsung has not yet confirmed the Tab A8, so we can only speculate on a release date at this time At the moment, we feel that it will be released in October of this year
