Update: New leaked information on the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus reveals all about the camera
Rumors about the battery size of the Samsung Galaxy S22 have so far been less than favorable, with some rumors that it may be smaller than the Galaxy S21's battery The rumors could be wrong, but yet another rumor claims that the S22's battery will be smaller, which is not a good look
A new certificate from Safety Korea (spotted by Phone Arena) shows off what is claimed to be the Galaxy S22 battery pack It features a 3,700 mAh capacity, with a usable capacity of 3,590 mAh, significantly lower than the S21's 4,000 mAh battery
While 300 mAh is not a large capacity, it is a noticeable drop In fact, the battery capacity of the 40 mm Galaxy Watch 4 is only 247 mAh, and the S22 may be a little extra short with smartwatches overall
While there is always the possibility that rumors of this sort could be proven false, this is not the first time we have heard that the standard S22 features this particular capacity drop An earlier report from Dutch site Galaxy Club claimed that the phone would have a usable battery of 3,590 mAh
We also heard rumors that the Galaxy S22 Ultra's total battery capacity will drop to 4,855 mAh from the S21 Ultra's 5,000 mAh, while the S22 Plus will drop to 4,370 mAh from the S21 Plus' 4,800 mAh
But this news may not be so bad While more battery capacity is one way to extend a device's battery life, it is not always the case Better energy efficiency and lower overall power consumption are critical to keeping phones running longer, and the S22 series could make this a reality
Rumors also suggest that the S22 series will have a smaller display than the S21 series Considering how much energy is needed to power the screen, this could go a long way in reducing the energy consumption of the phone In other words, a significant reduction in battery capacity may not be accompanied by a reduction in overall battery life
Then again, all of these rumors could prove to be completely bogus At this early stage, there is not enough information to make an absolute judgment However, the fact that multiple sources are making virtually the same claim means that we should expect the Galaxy S22 to have a smaller battery
We can only wait for the Galaxy S22 series to be released early next year
