Future iPad Pro can get huge 15 inch OLED display

One of Apple's display partners now has the means to produce giant displays, and future models of the iPad Pro may be as huge as previously rumored

The Elec (via MacRumors) reports that BOE, the display manufacturer in question, has remodeled part of its factory in China to produce larger OLED displays

Apparently, this production line will be able to produce OLED panels as large as 15 inches We have heard that Apple is working on an even larger 15-inch iPad, but at that size, Apple could easily put OLEDs on the MacBook as well

Currently, Apple uses LCD or mini-LED displays in the iPad and Mac Introducing OLED technology into these product lines would enable richer blacks, power efficiency, and brighter displays, as has already been achieved with the iPhone 13 series of OLED displays, to which BOE contributed as one of the display manufacturers along with Samsung Display and LG displays will be possible

What is unique about these upcoming OLED panels, however, is their dual-stack structure Unlike typical OLED displays, which use a single RGB emitting layer, these BOE screens have a two-layer structure This could result in even brighter screens

However, there could be a downside to this move: as reported by The Elec, BOE's reworking of this factory comes at the expense of its original plan to create a separate production line dedicated to flexible displays This could mean that the iPhone Flip and other foldable Apple devices will be further away or produced in lower volumes than we thought Likewise, Apple may have other display partners in place for flexible screens, and thus BOE's new plans would have nothing to do with foldable iPhones, iPads, or other products

The next generation of Apple's premium tablets, the iPad Pro 2022, will probably miss out on this new OLED technology This is because the launch is only a few months away and there is not enough time left for BOE to set up a new production line Still, it may boast upgrades such as wireless charging, a new notched display, and a refreshed chipset
