This gorgeous new Apple iMac is the dream thing

After 16 years of sticking with nearly the same design, rumors of Apple's iMac revamp have designers (and us) very excited

Yanko Design showed us what they think the new single-piece curved glass Apple desktop will look like

The screen is a 24" Retina display with a Face ID camera (like the iPad Pro) for secure login Below that is a keyboard, sandwiched between two trackpads, so either hand can use the mouse or other gestures

Meanwhile, at the rear, the display/keyboard unit is supported by a small cubic stand; the "cheesegrater" design, first used on the Mac Pro, allows more components to fit inside the desktop itself

Concept Creator and LetsGoDigital's previous attempts at a new iMac shape have also considered the use of a flatter rear stand and the possibility of removing the keyboard from the display for greater flexibility

Of course, it is worth bearing in mind that these designs are based on a patent filed by Apple's team of designers with the USPTO In a way, the patent is even more ridiculous than the unofficial design, suggesting that the iMac could be used as a sort of docking station for the MacBook Pro, with the Apple laptop connected somewhere on the back of the iMac

This means that we may never see this design in a product that we can actually buy, and it won't happen for another year or two at most However, everyone agrees that Apple needs to wake up after more than 15 years of similar iMac designs, and if the company decides on something similar to this idea, users will probably be overjoyed
