LG's new 48-inch OLED TV is here - and it's surprisingly expensive

LG's 48-inch OLED TV, the CX, will be great for watching movies and playing games, but it will be quite expensive

The new smallest version of LG's flagship OLED series (via TechRadar) is set to cost £1,499 in the UK, but $1,500 in the US This may be too high a price for most people, so waiting a few months after launch (May 11 in the UK and June in the US) may get it cheaper

This product's successor, the LG C9 OLED series, was one of our favorite TVs last year, excelling in color, performance, sound, and smart TV features The only problem was its high price, which seems to have carried over into the next generation

LG also offers the B series of OLED TVs, which are generally less expensive, but the price difference between the 48-inch CX OLED and the 55-inch BX OLED will be minimal For consumers looking for a TV to fill a small space, it is good that smaller sizes are available, but there is no obvious meaningful difference, although details and release dates for the BX series are still awaited

Outside of LG, Samsung offers a 49-inch QLED TV for $1,099, or £1,399 in the UK While QLEDs do not match OLEDs in picture quality (although the gap has narrowed over time), OLED TVs are still expensive for their size

If the QLED is not a good choice, it is a good choice

If you are interested in the 48" CX OLED, it will be available in the UK on May 11 The larger 55-inch (1,799 pounds) and 65-inch (2,799 pounds) will be available on April 6, and the largest 77-inch (4,999 pounds) on May 4 As for the US, the $2,800 65-inch model will arrive in April, the $5,000 77-inch model in May, and the 48-inch model in June
