A recent look at wearable devices on Chinese regulators' websites suggests that Samsung's Galaxy Watch 2 may be on the way soon It should also be expected to be a major upgrade in terms of specs
MySmartPrice (via SamMobile) found a listing for two models of this watch on the website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (screenshot below) This would be either the Galaxy Watch 2 or the Galaxy Watch Active 3
The current Galaxy Watch model will debut in 2018, with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 coming in 2019
The two main models have the codenames SM-R840 and SM-R850, which would represent two different face sizes, 40mm or 44mm for the same size as the Galaxy Watch and 42mm or 46mm for the same size as the Galaxy Watch Active If it is the same size as the Galaxy Watch, it could be 42mm or 46mm
The versions numbered SM-R845 and SM-R855 are thought to represent different connectivity options, with WiFi only and LTE enabled versions
These watches are also said to have 8GB of storage, which is double the 4GB storage of the current Galaxy Watch series, but still only a quarter of the 32GB of the Apple Watch 5 Battery capacity will also increase from 247mAh to 330mAh, which will no doubt contribute to the long battery life of the first watch
If Samsung's new smartwatch does not arrive soon, then Samsung's next big announcement will likely take place in August, with the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 expected to appear This is to be expected in previous years, but there may be delays or changes in the product lineup as the coronavirus pandemic is causing problems in many parts of the tech industry
