The first PS5-enabled TV revealed by Sony - with up to 8K games

Under the new "Ready for Playstation 5" moniker, Sony has announced two televisions that will offer game-ready models and features that support PS5, which will be released later this yearThe PS5-ready televisions apply to one 4K model and one 8K model, and both feature the new game console's high-resolution, high-frame-rate games and features unique to next-generation consoles

The Sony Bravia X900H is a 4K Android TV, starting at $999 for the 55-inch model, but also available in 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes, with prices ranging up to $2,799 for the largest model The Sony Z8H 8K LED Smart TV is available in 75- and 85-inch sizes for $6,999 and $9,999, respectively

The Sony Bravia X900H is an LED Smart TV with full-array backlighting that not only supports 4K resolution, but also offers 120Hz refresh rates and excellent HDR support thanks to full-array, local dimming backlighting Sony also touts the set's low time lag, citing a short input lag of 72 milliseconds

The Sony XBR Z8H 8K TV will support 8K resolution in addition to the same 4K, 120Hz support as the Z800H In our hands-on review of the Sony XBR Z8H 8K TV earlier this year, we were impressed with the 8K resolution as well as the advanced sound and features the 8K TV offers

Both sets support next-generation gaming features such as automatic switching to game mode, which switches the TV to game mode without having to manually switch inputs or settings when both the TV and console are turned on using the PS5 dual-sense controller

The set also supports variable refresh rate, which synchronizes the TV's refresh rate with the game console's output for a smooth, judder-free gaming experience without screen tearing

Sony also included Acoustic Surface Audio technology in both the X900H and Z8H This technology uses speakers embedded in the frame of the TV that follow the sound source across the screen as it moves from side to side, providing sound that seems to come from the screen The result is a more immersive experience, whether for regular viewing or gaming

All of this adds up to the high-quality picture and sound we have come to expect from Sony TVs
