Oppo Watch Release date, price, specifications and news

Oppo's smartwatch, aptly named Oppo Watch, has been available in China since March, but is now available more widely worldwide Featuring a curved AMOLED display, this Apple Watch-like smartwatch runs Wear OS, comes in two sizes, and features LTE compatibility, GPS, NFC, and a heart rate monitor For a comparison with the best smartwatches, read on

Oppo has not yet announced pricing or US availability for the Oppo Watch, but it is already available in China and is currently available in India and the UK The 41mm model will be available in September for £229; the 46mm model will be available in October for £369; and the 45mm model will be available in October for £399

This is not a cheap smartwatch, as it sits between the Apple Watch Series 3 and the Apple Watch 5 But for those who want an Apple Watch-like experience on Android, this could be it

There is no getting around the fact that the Oppo Watch closely resembles the Apple Watch It has a square face with rounded corners and a similarly styled watchband However, the Oppo Watch's AMOLED display is curved along two sides, giving it a more elegant appearance

On the right side of the Oppo Watch are two buttons, where there is no digital crown

The Oppo Watch comes in two sizes and three configurations: 46mm and 41mm; the 46mm version has LTE available as an option, while the 41mm version does not In comparison, the Apple Watch is offered in 40mm and 44mm case sizes, which are slightly smaller when worn on the wrist

The Oppo Watch will be available in black and glossy gold for the 46mm model, and black, pink gold, and silver mist for the 41mm model

Both versions use the previous generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 processor, but Oppo combines it with the Apollo 3 sub-processor, which handles many low-level tasks such as heart rate monitoring and notifications This is similar to what Qualcomm offers in its latest Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, which will be available in Wear OS smartwatches starting this fall

All versions of the Oppo Watch will feature 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage In addition, they will feature GPS, NFC for mobile payments with Google Pay, and a heart rate monitor 46mm models will be water resistant to 5 bar, while 41mm models will be water resistant to 3 bar Both models are safe for swimming

Like most smartwatches, the Oppo Watch will have a heart rate monitor and GPS; in addition to Google Fit, Oppo has its own health and fitness features including various 5-minute workouts

Similar to the Apple Watch's activity ring, the Oppo Watch has four bars that fill up as you reach your goals for steps, calories burned, exercise, and activity

It also has built-in sleep tracking, displaying information such as deep sleep, light sleep, and wake-up time

Since it is not yet available in the US, it is not known which carriers it will be available on, but overseas, the LTE version of Oppo watch is available on Vodafone, Orange, and Celcom

Oppo claims that the 46mm version, with a 416mAh battery, will last up to 36 hours in "Smart" mode and up to 21 days in "Power Saver" mode; the 41mm version has a 289mAh battery and can last up to 24 hours in Smart mode and should be able to run for up to 24 hours

Unlike other smartwatches, which have fairly limited battery-saving modes, the Oppo Watch's Power Saver mode allows users to receive notifications, check time, record steps, and monitor heart rate

These numbers mean that the Oppo Watch is more durable than the Apple Watch and most other Wear OS smartwatches However, this runtime is a bit less than Samsung's Galaxy Watch 2, which runs the more efficient Tizen OS and runs for about 48 hours on a single charge We expect it to be as durable or more durable than the Galaxy Watch 3

Oppo also claims that the Oppo Watch can be fully charged in 75 minutes and nearly 50% charged in just 15 minutes
